<p>The Boston Groundwater Trust was established by a city ordinance to study groundwater problems. The depletion of groundwater (aquifers) can lead to the drying of wooden piles due to wood pile rot under structures, causing buildings to collapse or requiring them to be demolished. The trust is located in Boston, Massachusetts. Areas in Boston the trust monitors include the Back Bay and Beacon Hill neighborhoods.
