Hello everyone. In the expectation that the next 10 months will see lots of field activity with observation well installations and the associated activities, I am beginning a weekly update for you, rather than just the monthly update at the Board meetings.
Over the past month (i.e. since the last BGwT board meeting on February 23), the following has been accomplished:
- Completed March 2004 readings for the observation well network, the assistance of co-op Ryan McTigue, allowed this to be done in two weeks.
- Created and Submitted PIC for the remaining group of 55 observation wells that are funded in FY 2003, to be installed in Spring 2004.
- Created PIC for the group of 166 observation wells to be installed in Summer, Fall, and Winter 2004, with funding to be received in FY 2004.
- Expanded the base map include areas of the North End and East Boston, where we have found woodpiles.
- Completed the Building Inspector's Reports searches at the Boston Public Library, and summarized data in the BGwT data base and plans.
- Renewed permits for the installation of the remaining 36 observation wells from the contract of 100 that began in 2003. (Scheduled to begin the installation of these wells on Wednesday April 14.)
As noted above, the observation well installations resume on April 14. Ryan will be in the field most of the time and I expect to be out there several hours everyday. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Also, this being the first weekly update, I welcome any suggestions or comments.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Holiday.
Kind Regards,
Christian Simonelli
